Steven Anschutz serves as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach at Concordia University Wisconsin and has made his mark on both programs in just a short time.
Anschutz has served as the Women's Tennis head coach since the spring of the 2012 season while taking over the men's program in 2015. Over eight seasons in NACC play of both the men's and women's programs, Anschutz has posted a combined 83-9 conference record, with five total NACC Regular Season Championships -- three for the women and two for the men.
Anschutz's Women's Tennis program has been dialed in over the past few seasons, winning 28-consecutive NACC matches. The Falcons have won three-consecutive NACC Regular Season titles and also captured the NACC Tournament title in 2018, 2017 and 2016. CUW qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament all three years as well.
The Men's Tennis program has atop the NACC the past two seasons, winning both regular season and tournament championships. They have a 10-match NACC winning streak during the regular season. The 2017 team shared the regular season title, while the 2018 squad won it outright. The Falcons won four-straight NACC Tournament matches by 5-0 scores.
Anschutz has been named NACC Coach of the Year in each of the past three seasons on the women's side and earned the honor in 2018 for the men. In addition, the Falcons have received several All-NACC honors under Anschutz, including Ashley Solberg who was named the NACC Freshman of the Year (2015) and NACC Player of the Year (2017), while he has guided three rookies to NACC Freshman of the Year accolades (Brad Guendel in 2014, Christian Docter in 2015 and Nolan Rademacher in 2018).
Over his seven seasons combined, Anschutz's teams have never finished worse than third in the NACC. In each of his first seasons with the men's and women's program, the Falcons placed third. The following two years on the women's side CUW finished second in 2013 and 2014 before capturing three-straight titles. The Falcons also improved on the men's side as well, finishing second in 2016 after the third-place finish in 2015, before tying for the top spot in 2017 and winning it outright in 2018.
Anschutz has guided the Falcons to a program record for wins in a season for both of his programs, with the women winning 21 matches in 2015-16 and the men winning 20 during the 2016-17 year.
During his tenure as head coach, Anschutz has coached 17 All-NACC Singles players and 11 All-NACC Doubles teams on the women's side. In four seasons leading the men's program, Anschutz has coached 12 All-Singles Players and nine All-Doubles teams.
Anschutz is a former Falcon who had an impressive collegiate tennis career helping CUW win three-consecutive Northern Athletics Conference regular season and tournament titles. He finished his career with a 67-39 overall (25-1 NAC) record in singles play and a 63-44 overall (24-3 NAC) record in doubles competition.
