Nine Intriguing Questions for 2010
Share:

2010 marks the fifth new year for TennisRecruiting.net - and the fifth edition of "Intriguing Questions" from columnist Colette Lewis. (Take a look at last year's questions here.) Lewis asks nine questions that may be answered during the first year of the new decade.

1) Which player born in 1992 will crack the Top 100?

None of them is probably the prudent answer, given that no teenager finished in the ATP top 100 in 2009. But American Ryan Harrison, Australian Bernard Tomic, Indian Yuki Bhambri and Serb Filip Krajinovic have made dramatic moves up the ATP rankings in a year's time: Krajinovic 591 to 351, Harrison 749 to 358, Tomic 764 to 286, Bhambri 1154 to 335. And although top 100 isn't likely, the emergence of Jack Sock, who went from no ranking to 698 in just five tournaments, demonstrates a big breakthrough can happen in a hurry.

2) Is there a shake-up coming for the 2011 USTA junior competition schedule?

USTA politics are as unpredictable as a WTA star's retirement span, but rumors persist of the demise of many national opens and a possible move indoors for the winter nationals heading into the USTA annual meeting in Dallas in March.
