Scholarship for Athletes Jesse Medvene-Collins is an assistant coach for both the men's and women's tennis teams at the University of Redlands. He joined the Bulldogs in the spring of 2008, and is currently attending the school of Education to obtain a Mater's Degree in Higher Education. Medvene-Collins is not only a coach for Redlands, but Redlands is also his alma mater. Medvene-Collins graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor's degree is Sociology, and played tennis for the Bulldogs during each of his collegiate years.
While playing tennis at Redlands, Medvene-Collins was part of a tennis team that won four straight SCIAC Championships and a third place finish at the NCAA Championships. During three out of the four seasons that Medvene-Collins played for the Bulldogs, the team went undefeated in their conference. To add to these impressive tennis accomplishments, Medvene-Collins obtained the honorable Jim Verdieck award, two years in a row.
After Medvene-Collins finished his four years at Redlands, he moved back east where he was the women's assistant coach for Dartmouth College. After two years with Dartmouth, he went to North Carolina where he was the women's assistant coach for Wake Forest. Jesse Medvene-Collins is originally from Washington D. C., and is hoping to continue his passion and love for the game of tennis as he spends time coaching and learning at Redlands. Jesse Medvene-Collins is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). Medvene-Collins hopes to one day be the head coach for a tennis program.
