Fournier, St. Louis Juniors Go Deep at Interscholastics

USTA Missouri Valley Section Taylor Fournier (Leawood, Kan.), Alexandra Lehman (St. Louis) and Andrew Mellow (St. Louis) led the seven-player USTA Missouri Valley junior contingent at the USTA Interscholastic Championships - East, with each of those three reaching the semifinals or better.

The tournament was a national level 3 caliber event, and took place May 3-5 at the Lexington Tennis Club in Lexington, Ky. Each singles draw was made up of 64 entrants, while doubles was 32.
Fournier, the Section's top-ranked junior in Girls' 18 singles (and No. 43 nationally), reached the finals of the Girls' 18 event. The fifth-seed in Lexington, Fournier won five main-draw matches before bowing out to top-seeded Kate Turvy of Dublin, Ohio, 6-2, 6-0. Fournier also played doubles with her younger sister, Haley, and the Fournier duo reached the Round of 32. Haley also made it to the Round of 32 in singles, before falling to Misia Krasowski of Bannockburn, Ill.
