Minneapolis Junior Has Plenty To Be Thankful For

During this past summer, Angela Wong spent much of her days driving her son, Myles Tang, and daughter, Sunny, to various tennis activities in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Whether it was a tournament, private lesson or a drill, Wong chauffeured her two tennis prodigies from court to court as they continued to develop their games and climb up the USTA Northern rankings. This summer, Myles was ranked #2 in USTA Northern in Boys 12s, while Sunny was #30 in Girls 12s.

Myles and Sunny Tang
The morning and afternoon of August 1 started like any other day for Angela and her family. Sunny was playing in a tournament in South Minneapolis, while Myles had a lesson with his coach on the north side of town. With Sunny warming up for her match, Wong went to pick up Myles, hurrying so not to miss Sunny's match. What happened next still amazes her almost three months later.

As Angela and Myles were entering I-35W South, traffic was at a stand-still which is normal for 6:00 p.m. on this busy stretch of highway which carries over 140,000 cars a day. Barely moving, Angela noticed the construction signs ahead of her starting to lower slowly toward the road. Thinking this was strange, she questioned whether the signs were really moving or if it was just her imagination after another long day of playing taxi driver. She then saw the construction workers who were on the bridge moving quickly - almost in double time. Then... the road buckled.
