2007 Eddie Herr Provides Glimpse into the Future of Tennis

Four age divisions of both boys and girls from around the world make for an impressive array of junior tennis. And the Eddie Herr, which begins this weekend at the IMG/Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida, usually showcases a future professional star.

Just five years ago, junior tennis fans witnessed Ana Ivanovic of Serbia take the girls 18s title; the year before that, countrywoman Jelena Jankovic was the 18s champion; now both reside in the WTA's Top Five.

Andy Roddick and Argentina's David Nalbandian won the 18s in 1999 and 1998 respectively, while former world No. 1 Marcelo Rios was the 1993 champion.

In the younger age divisions, Maria Sharapova won the 16s in 2000, at age 13, and Roland Garros finalist Guillermo Coria of Argentina took the 14s back in 1996.

This year's tournament, which begins Saturday with competition in the 12-year-old age group, features eleven previous champions, two of whom are going for their third straight titles.
