Katie Garofolo-Ro used to visit the Washington DC area growing up because her mom is from the East Coast. During their trips from their home in Houston, Susan Garofolo suggested her daughter keep Georgetown in mind once it came time to pick a college.

David Kenas Garofolo-Ro reached out to head coach Freddy Mesmer early in her recruiting process and they remained in touch. The five-star senior received some added insight about the program from two fellow Texans who are on the team - sophomore McHaley Ho from Houston and freshman Naomi Katz from El Paso. They both told her great things.
Once Garofolo-Ro made her official visit to the campus, she knew she wanted to commit to the Hoyas.
“I just felt like I fit into the atmosphere very well,” Garofolo-Ro said. "I loved the team and felt like the people on the team were so nice and welcoming. I loved the tennis, but I am also very academic and that is what I was looking for. I knew I wanted to go D1, but I am definitely an academic person and I wanted a good rigorous challenging school."
