Francesca Di Lorenzo was standing in the checkout line at Publix when she received the call that would change the course of her budding professional career. The former Ohio State star had just finished a training session in Florida, and was stocking up on groceries to fuel her body for the next few days. Her facial expressions once she answered drew puzzled looks from everyone around her. They had no idea she was being awarded a $100,000 grant from Oracle. “I couldn’t stop smiling, and the people at the checkout register were staring at me and wondering what was going on,” Di Lorenzo said. “I think I said ‘Thank you’ about 100 times on the phone. I was literally just so overjoyed. That much money is life-changing for me at this point in my career.”
