"My parents always said that once your heart feels right, you'll know it," said Top-15 senior Chase Wood, referring to his college choice.

Wood's parents knew exactly what they were talking about as both played collegiate tennis - mom for Tennessee and dad for Arkansas. In addition, Chase's older brothers are collegiate athletes, Nick plays tennis for the University of Georgia and Matt plays baseball for Chattanooga State.

Taking into consideration his family's advice, athletic history and his own goals, the 17-year-old blue chip recruit and top-ranked Texas player verbally committed to Florida State University.

He also seriously looked at Tennessee, Texas, Alabama and Texas Tech.

"I took a visit to Florida and absolutely loved it," the rising senior said. "My heart just felt right there. The facilities are incredible, and the players on the team were also really supportive, really nice and I thought I could fit in really well with them. The coaches are absolutely incredible. They care about you as an individual and not only care about your tennis game, but they also focus on the academic side as well."

Seminoles Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist just concluded his 16th season at Florida State. During his tenure, FSU been regarded as one of the top programs in the Atlantic Coast Conference and in the country. FSU has had three ACC Player of the Year recipients, five All-American honors and two national ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award winners.

Hultquist has led the Seminoles to 13 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, one of only 12 programs in the country to reach that mark. He is assisted by Coach Nick Crowell.

"Both coaches will do a great job with my game," Wood explained. "They can help me improve as much as I can. They're also going for a national championship, and when I get there, I hope I can help achieve that."
