West Florida Captures First Division II Men's Indoor Title

A new champion was assured to be crowned in the ITA Division II Men’s Team Indoors.
West Florida and Washburn were each appearing in the championship match for the first time. Washburn had never even qualified for the national indoors before this season.
In the first meeting between the programs, No. 7 seed West Florida beat No. 8 Washburn 4-0 in the championship match on Sunday afternoon at UIndy Tennis Center in Indianapolis.
West Florida (4-0) clinched the doubles point for the first time over the weekend as Diego Duran and Sebastian Rondon beat Matthew Earle and Tim Hammes 6-2 on court one and Albin Ekenros and Miguel Cabrera beat Tommaso Cecchetti and Vaclav Schneider 6-3 on court two.
In singles, Ekenros beat Earle 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot, Rondon rebounded from a second-set blanking to beat Schneider 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 and Sebastian Sotelo beat Pavlos Parson 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot to clinch the title.
West Florida upset No. 2 Flagler 4-2 in the quarterfinals and No. 3 Barry 4-3 in the semifinals.
Washburn (5-1) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to upset No. 1 Saint Leo 4-3 in the quarterfinals and swept No. 5 Rollins College 4-0 in the semifinals.
