A chance introduction helped Cole Henceroth (WTN: 13.6) discover where he would be playing college tennis.
Henceroth trains at Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland. Former University of South Carolina assistant coach Andrew Adams used to play at JTCC when he was younger and knows Henceroth’s coaches well.

After Adams and South Carolina head coach Josh Goffi watched Henceroth practice at Boys 16 Clay Courts, they struck up a conversation.
“It worked out perfectly. We all got along really well and kept in touch,” Henceroth said. “I believe they were impressed by the way I play and my potential. I was very glad they were able to see that.”
Henceroth kept South Carolina at the top of his list as he narrowed down his college options. The five-star senior from Midlothian, Virginia wanted to stay on the East Coast and knew his personality would fit better at a bigger school.
His visit to Columbia solidified his decision, and he committed to the Gamecocks.
“South Carolina definitely stood out the most,” Henceroth said. “Just seeing the environment and the team culture and how hard the coaches work was a huge thing.”
