New Beginnings: Mississippi State's Chris Hooshyar
Share:

Chris Hooshyar is no stranger to the SEC.

Hooshyar spent the last 10 seasons coaching at Auburn. He was an assistant coach with the women’s program for five years before spending the next five seasons as an assistant with the men’s team.

The Manchester, England native shouldn’t have any trouble adjusting to the travel schedule as he begins his role as the new Mississippi State women’s head coach. Hooshyar was named the 14th head coach in MSU women’s tennis history on June 12th.

Hooshyar started his coaching career at his alma mater, Southern Methodist University, where he was a volunteer assistant for the women’s team for two seasons.

As a player at SMU, Hooshyar registered 35 singles wins in four seasons and was the team captain for his final two years. He graduated in 2010 with an undergraduate degree in sociology and a master’s degree in conflict resolution.

As he prepares for his first season as a college head coach, Hooshyar shares why he wanted the position and what his future goals are.
