Scholarship For Athletes (SFA): At SFA, we try to explain to our clients that the recruiting process is like being on three year job interview; is that how you view the recruiting process? Brian Fleishman (BF): The process is like a long interview. You need to impress the coaches with your athletic ability, your grades and your leadership skills.
SFA: What advice do you have for the parents of high school student athletes about the recruiting process?
BF: Make sure the student athlete is the front person in the process. If I get letters, emails or phone calls from the parents, I am less likely to respond!
SFA: Assuming that they have the academics and tennis level to attend your school, when should junior players begin to contact you or send you their resume?
BF: I like to see players contact me as soon as possible so I can put them on my radar. This allows me time to do research and evaluate their style of play.
