Kate Sharabura was open to all options when it came to playing tennis in college. In theory, it sounded like a good plan. But during a pandemic, it became more complicated than she imagined.

“I didn’t really have any idea of what kind of school I wanted to go to at all and I couldn’t visit anywhere, so it was hard to narrow it down,” she said. “I was considering a bunch of different schools across the country and I didn’t know everything about them.”
Adding to her quandary, Sharabura wasn’t able to play in many major events to showcase the growth in her game.
“I was a late bloomer in my development, so the time the tournaments that were canceled was the time I felt could be important for me,” she said. “I was playing a lot better, but I couldn’t prove it to any coaches obviously because I couldn’t play and they couldn’t watch me.”
