Knowing how college coaches recruit and what they are looking for can make the process less intimidating for prospects.
Our “Recruiting Insider” series features coaches from across the nation sharing their methods of how they identify, scout and communicate with potential recruits.
Today, we hear from Northwestern women’s coach Claire Pollard:
What are your primary methods of recruiting?
A lot of it is just preliminary work done on the computer, with us looking at tournaments and results and people emailing and us touching base. It’s really evolving very, very quickly and I feel like social media is becoming more of a role in it. I think the players are getting more savvy and they are reaching out more and getting their names to us a little more now. I think the old method of getting out on the road and evaluating and being at as many events as possible is the core thing. But obviously right now we are not allowed to do that. I am kind of curious how the recruiting classes will be impacted.
