The March weather may be unpredictable, but the 14 players highlighted below certainly had consistently fine results on the ITF Junior Circuit, the USTA Pro Circuit and the WTA Tour. The ITA National Team Indoor Championships season also wrapped up during the month, with another repeat champion in Division III.
Danielle Collins
The 2014 and 2016 NCAA singles champion was an Ace in January for her title at the WTA 125 Oracle Challenger event in Newport Beach. That title earned her a wild card into the BNP Paribas Open and the 2016 University of Virginia graduate earned three wins there, including a victory over No. 15 seed Madison Keys, which put her into the WTA Top 100 for the first time. Collins then qualified for the Miami Open in her home state and picked up another WTA Top 20 win over CoCo Vandeweghe en route to the quarterfinals, where she got her first Top 10 win over Venus Williams. Collins, the first qualifier to reach the Miami Open semifinals, will see her ranking skyrocket to near the Top 50 after beginning the year at 162.
Katarina Zavatska
The 18-year-old from Ukraine won her third career ITF Women’s Pro Circuit title last month at a $15,000 tournament in France. The top seed dropped just one set in her five victories, beating fellow teenager Eleonora Molinaro of Luxembourg, the No. 4 seed, 6-1, 6-2 in the final. Zavatska, whose career high in the ITF junior rankings was 13, is currently 241 in the WTA rankings.
