Ashlyn Krueger has never been to New York. Playing in the US Open is a bucket list reason to book her travel plans.

Krueger swept the singles and doubles titles at the USTA Billie Jean King Girls 18s National Championships at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.

The 17-year-old from Lewisville, Texas, defeated No. 7 Reese Brantmeier (Whitewater, Wisconsin) 6-2, 7-6 (3) in the singles final before teaming with Robin Montgomery (Washington D.C.) to breeze to the doubles title with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Elvina Kalieva (Delray Beach, Florida) and Elise Wagle (Schenectady, New York) in the doubles final.

The first two gold balls of Krueger’s career earned her wild cards into the main draw of the US Open women’s singles and doubles events in New York.

“It’s an amazing feeling. I am just super happy. I can’t even put it into words right now,” Krueger said. “It is a dream of mine to be able to play a Slam. I have watched the US Open on TV forever and getting to play it now is really unbelievable.”
