SPOTLIGHT ON Adnan Alousi (Huntington Woods, Michigan)

Music on your playlist: Before matches, I am usually listening to specific music that gets my adrenaline pumping where there is intense instrumentals with some positive affirmations and lyrics to get me in the right frame of mind and in my zone to perform my best. I am all over the place with lots of genres, from rock to rap to pop.

Dream vacation destination: Hawaii. I have always been into nature and beautiful scenery and that’s a beautiful destination with great marine biology.

Favorite food: Sushi. There are a couple of good restaurants around me that serve good sushi, and California rolls are my favorite type. It’s always a special treat when my family orders it.

Favorite athlete: Miguel Cabrera. I enjoy watching him play because he does a really good job of staying focused throughout the season and helping out his team with his abilities. However, he also enjoys his work and is a great leader in the clubhouse and an inspiration to his teammates.

Future occupation: I am thinking about going into the medical field and maybe using my athletic status to further enhance my occupation, because I know somewhat about recovery and the human body from tennis. I could maybe build on that knowledge and take that into medicine and make a living out of it.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be: Arthur Ashe just because of all the experience he had. He was extremely wise and went to a lot of places and saw many things. The conversation that would be brought up and the information presented would be priceless. That would definitely be a dream dinner for sure.

Must-watch TV show: River Monsters. Jeremy Wade does a really good job with the production and the show is always really gripping and entertaining. It’s great to see the places he travels, the nature around him and the fish he brings in. I am not a huge fisherman, but it’s just really interesting.

Favorite movie: It’s A Wonderful Life. This movie is a classic and always lifts my mood if I am down and in a rut. My whole family watches this movie together every year around the holiday season, and it is truly a special occasion. The message of this movie is great, as it teaches the viewer to never give up hope and always be appreciative of those around you.

If I am not playing tennis, I am … reading self improvement books, exercising to perfect my muscle strength and also hanging out with friends and enjoying time outside. Now, it’s at a safe distance, maybe hanging out on a back deck with chairs and things like that.
