Hopper Ready For More Fun at Case Western Reserve
Share:

James Hopper reached a bit of a crossroads in tennis. He was playing JV doubles as a sophomore for Montgomery High School in Skillman, New Jersey, and wasn’t enjoying the sport as much as he wanted.

He realized he needed to start having more fun and take advantage of the opportunities tennis provided. He grew seven inches in a year, got bigger and stronger and gradually began improving.

James Hopper Has Committed to Case Western Reserve

His love for the sport returned.

Hopper reached the No. 1 spot in doubles last year, and won a state title with his partner, Chris Guo.

He wanted to keep playing tennis in college, and began exploring his options. The four-star senior liked how head coach Todd Wojtkowski ran his program at Case Western Reserve University and committed to the Cleveland, Ohio school.

“I wanted to go to a college where I could have a great time and improve my game while having fun on the tennis team. Case Western really provided both of those,” Hopper said. “I really appreciate Coach Todd and his mentality to Division III college tennis. He likes working hard and putting in the hours. Some D3 schools don’t do that, but Case Western definitely does and kind of provides like a Division I experience at the Division III level.”
