Four-Star Tsaturyan Stays Close to Home at D2 Metro State
Share:

Metropolitan State head coach Josh Graetz received a call from a former assistant about a player who was competing at the state high school tournament in Colorado. He thought Graetz might have interest in recruiting him to play for the Roadrunners.

Eduard Tsaturyan had moved back to the United States from Russia, and was teammates with the former assistant coach’s son on the Grandview High team. Graetz went to watch him play and was impressed with what he saw as Tsaturyan captured the 5A singles title.

“He was very talented and one of the best juniors in Colorado. He kind of crashed onto the scene,” Graetz said. “I did a little more background on him and was able to go out to lunch with him and get to know his family and I felt he was a person who would gel well with the guys.”

Tsaturyan, a four-star senior, felt the same and recently signed with Metro State, an NCAA Division II school in Denver.

“I loved the team and the facility,” said Tsaturyan, who is ranked No. 2 in Colorado on the Head Recruiting Lists. “I also wanted to stay local and find a college that was not too far away or a long drive from home.”
