Meet The Coach
Coastal Carolina is 'Dream Job' For Hometown Coach
Share:

Catherine Hewitt’s ping pong table was littered with papers. She had notes about recruiting, grassroots marketing and academic priorities. She had a game plan for match days and player development.

Catherine Hewitt

Although she had never coached at the college level, Hewitt was one of three finalists to become the head women’s coach at Coastal Carolina University.

She walked circles around the ping pong table during the phone interview, her voice growing confident with every answer.

The hometown girl desperately wanted to coach her hometown college. Hewitt (formerly Catherine Brown) is a Conway, South Carolina, native who played high school tennis locally before joining the University of South Carolina women’s team.

Her sincerity and passion helped win the search committee over, and she was hired as Coastal Carolina’s head coach in 2011.

"This is my dream job,” Hewitt said. “I hope they never fire me. I don't want to go anywhere else."
