Fall Signing Week '08: Chow Looks To Shine at Princeton

Princeton has always been known for its academics, but incoming freshman Monica Chow hopes she can help make the Tigers known for their tennis as well.

Chow, a native of Miami, FL, has declared her intent to join the women's tennis team at Princeton in the fall of 2009, under the watchful eye of head coach Kathy Sell.

"The combination of top level academics and tennis were probably what appealed to me most about Princeton," says Chow, who is currently ranked No. 28 in the country and No. 16 on the Tennis Recruiting Network's class of 2009 rankings. "I really liked the feel of the campus and it helped that I already knew a few of the girls on the team."

In addition to the relationships she had already formed with current players, Chow said she was attracted to the coaching style of Sell, who assembled the Tennis Recruiting Network's top-ranked recruiting class in 2008.

"She seemed to really relate to the players," says Chow. "She was very honest as well and said not to rush because it was important to pick the right school."
