Spring Signing Week '17: Hada Chang Signs With Denver
Share:

Hada Chang will soon become a Pioneer in the world of women's college tennis.

Hada Chang is heading to Denver
Chang, who hails from Trophy Club, Texas, signed a National Letter of Intent last fall with the University of Denver. The mascot of the NCAA Division I school, a member of The Summit League, is a Pioneer.

"I chose the University of Denver because I have a high respect for the coaches," Chang said. "I feel this is the best place to develop my tennis, as well as with academics. The atmosphere of the campus was beautiful and inviting."

Chang also considered SMU, Texas Tech, the University of Nebraska, and Baylor before deciding on the school located in the Mile High City.

The Pioneers are skippered by head coach Christian Thompson who is in her fourth season at the helm. Thompson has led Denver to three Summit League championships and to a No. 50 national ranking last season. That ranking marked the program's highest finish since 2009.

Thompson has the highest regard for her soon-to-be competitor.

"Hada has been a very successful, decorated player for a long time," said Thompson, shortly after Chang signed the NLI. "She knows how to win at the national level, as well as on the international stage. She has a strong passion for playing at Denver, and will bring an elite level of experience with her next fall. We believe she will be a great asset to our team."

Chang is a five-star recruit who has been ranked as high as 15th in the nation. Included in her résumé are the championships of over 50 Texas tournaments, six ITF doubles titles, and 20 National Open championships.

In her display case, Chang has three USTA Gold balls, winning 14s Hard Courts doubles, Easter Bowl doubles, and the National Team Championships. She also took home a bronze medal in doubles at the 16s Hard Courts, and placed second in Eddie Herr 14s doubles.
